Overview

Amotulsi is a liquid extract which is prepared from 5 species of tulsi mixed together. Tulsi is used in ayurvedic medicine as an adaptogen to counter life's stresses. It removes the impurities of blood and makes the skin glow, increase the immunity of the human body and helpful in all types of allergies. Tulsi has the anti- oxidant, anti- bacterial, anti- biotic, anti- inflammatory, antiviral and anti- allergic properties. Composition

Amotulsi is a liquid extract of five types of tulsi:

Ocimum sanctum:

Ocimum sanctum ( known as Holy basil in English and tulsi in Hindi) is a traditional medicinal plant which is used for curing various diseases. This is a small herb seen throughout India, have been recommended for the treatment of,bronchitis, bronchial asthma, malaria, diarrhea, dysentery, skin diseases arthritis, painful eye diseases, chronic fever, insect bite etc.

Ocimum gratissimum:

Ocimum gratissimum is also known as clove basil, African basil and in Hawaii as wild basil, is a species of Ocimum. This traditional medicinal plant is used for the treatment of several ailments such as urinary tract, wound, skin and gastrointestinal infections etc.

Ocimum canum:

It is also known as the African basil with a distinct mint flavor, with hairy leaves and scented flowers. Two important relatives with similar properties are the Ocimum gratissimum (basil), and Ocimum sanctum (holy basil). Ocimum canum is grown for its medicinal and culinary value and it is highly useful in treating various types of diseases and in lowering blood glucose, especially in type 2 diabetes levels.

Ocimum basillcum:

Ocimum basillcum is also known as sweet basil which is commonly used for stomach problems such as spasms, loss of appetite, intestinal gas, diarrhea, and constipation. Basil contains many chemicals. These chemicals might kill bacteria and fungi.

Ocimum citridorum:

Ocimum citridorum is also known by the name of lemon basil. This plant contains many polyphenolic flavonoids like orientin and vicenin. This plant is used to treat bacterial infection, intestinal parasites, lowers fever, help migraine, cold, flu, aids poor digestion, nausea, abdominal cramps, help in insomnia, low spirits and anxiety etc.

Side Effects

Tulsi has the property to thin the blood in our bodies. And it should not be taken along with anti- clotting medications.
Tulsi can cause hypoglycemia (the condition of abnormally low levels of blood sugar). If you take medication to control your blood sugar, it may enhance this effect and even cause levels to fall too low.
Tulsi is possibly unsafe when taken during pregnancy. A compound present in Tulsa known as estragol may cause uterine contractions. Therefore, it may be best to avoid this herb during pregnancy.
Tulsi might interfere with the way how our body processes certain drugs.
